Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your detailed answer! That is very helpful to put things into context. Good luck with any discussions about a new release scheme!

To answer on your last paragraph: I do not have any particular worries with 2016.11 for the moment (though I second that there are some problems around the two segmentation types now). I was just curious whether there would be another release coming soon and whether it would be worthwhile to plan for a switch to this release for our workbench-"clone" application.

Best,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

to be honest we didn't planned like a fixed release date for a possible next release. We concluded that the current release procedure didn't work extremely well the last times, as the release phases in which we switch to release mode in our repo often ended up to be months instead of weeks.

We didn't have a final discussion about a future strategy for releases but we may come up with something different, more dynamic, which doesn't take such long periods of time to accomplish.

Anyway, for the next "release" we should probably address some essential issues like the segmentation dualism, which, I guess, will take time to be solved in a satisfactory manner.

The Diffusion release didn't follow the usual release cycle and was basically a one-man show of Peter :-), who branched from a very recent master. At least this is an indicator that the current master is in a good shape and might be worth giving it a try for whatever you are planning that doesn't work with 2016.11.

Best,

Stefan

Hi MITK team,

Congratulations for this release!

Could you also please give an update on further release planning for the general MITK workbench/toolkit? Are there any releases planned this year? The wiki page [1] looks a bit out of date, perhaps I missed a transition to another system here?

Thanks in advance,
Daniel
