Hi,
I guess it depends on the size of the data in your scene. MITK project files
are gz compressed and this can take a while for huge projects. Another
possibility is the choice of location in which you save your data, for example
network drives may take longer than local SSDs.

When I use the 2016.11 to save MITK projects , the MITK Workbench does not
respond. But a few seconds later, it is return to normal. I wonder how to solve
the unrespond problem.
