Hi Selva,

the .nii format is able to preserve a 3D image volume, thats why you saw the
image in all 4 render windows.
The DICOM format usually stores 2D volumes, and to get a 3D volume again, you
need a series of DICOM files.

To load and view your DICOM series in MITK, you don’t have to convert it into a
.nii file.
MITK is able to load a DICOM series correctly, since all associated files for
this series are located in one folder. Then you would drag and drop the first
file (or open the first file with the „open file“ button) in MITK.

Be aware that using 4 views does not mean you need 4 DICOM images, instead you
need the whole series of files which corresponds to the slice count.

Best,
Tobias

Hello Tobias,

Just to understand it better.

Yesterday, I loaded only one .nii image and was able to see the image in all 4
views.

But when I upload one DICOM image today, I am not able to see image in all 4
views. I understand the issue is with the format

So, should I be converting/merging all the 4 (DICOM images) of the same patient
into one .nii file to view it in MITK.

Or is it possible to load each DICOM image/slice individually for each view?

Can you please guide me on this?

Thanks
Selva

Hi Selva,

i would say just one DICOM file of your series was loaded. The third dimension
is probably 1, you can check this with right click on your image node > Show
details.
If your series contains more than one slice, check whether all DICOM files are
located in one folder when loading.

Best,
Tobias

Hello Team,

I am uploading a Mammogram DICOM image but MITK displays only the "Axial" view
and "3D" view.

Can you let me know what might be the reason for this?

I would like to see the image in all 4 windows. Any help is appreciated
