So, I've been looking at lot of emails coming from the bug tracker (thanks
to those plugging away at them btw) and thinking it is somewhat hard to
group duplicate defects together... I also find it a little annoying that
we can't require users to provide some basic system specs details when they
describe crash/performance related problems.

With the duplicate defect issue, it seems like other trackers have made
attempts to work on this by having a voting thing, bugzilla has a fixed
voter system (some bugzillas have it that every user gets 5 votes to split
amongst bugs they want fixed or RFEs).

bugs.php.net tries to get bug readers to vote which platform + PHP version
they are on and wether they also see the defect or not ... To help cut down
on duplicate bugs and also figure out how wide spread an issue is in the
wild.

I'm thinking about putting together a couple of suggestions for the
launchpad guys to consider:
 - some kind of "me too" voting system
 - present a list of top voted defects during the bug creation processing
with an option to me too vote on bugs... This assumes that the most sever
bugs effecting the most people are most likely to appear at the top of that
list, and people will go "me too" instead of opening a dup.
 - maybe ask users if it's a behavioural defect or performance / crash
defect and if perf/crash require some specs about OS & hardware from user

I'm curious if others have given thought to how to streamline the bug
process...

Also while I was thinking about my list of ideas I found
http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com, where people can enter ideas and proposed
solutions. Launchpad has a section on it, which is where I will try to
send my ideas.

Though it looks like something originally set-up for Ubuntu, it seems that
other projects can now make use of it. I'm wondering if this is something
Mixxx might want to look into to channel feature requests and mini-project
ideas out of launchpad / the wiki pages and into there?

Thoughts?
