Hi -
Just saw something that struck me as Strange - the average bitrate
reported by mplex was lower than the peak bitrate:
INFO: [mplex] No. Pictures : 1343
INFO: [mplex] No. Groups : 90
INFO: [mplex] No. I Frames : 90 avg. size 44961 bytes
INFO: [mplex] No. P Frames : 359 avg. size 33373 bytes
INFO: [mplex] No. B Frames : 895 avg. size 28970 bytes
INFO: [mplex] Average bit-rate : 7484800 bits/sec
INFO: [mplex] Peak bit-rate : 7034400 bits/sec
Shouldn't it be the other way around with the Average at 7034400 and
the peak at 7484800? It's not causing any problems - just something
that caught my eye.
This was from a D8 camcorder (DV on a Hi8 tape) using the sequence:
smil2yuv capture005.dv | mpeg2enc -f 8 -q 4 -4 2 -2 1 -o capture005.m2v
Running the data thru 'yuvdenoise -l 1':
smil2yuv capture005.dv | yuvdenoise -S 0 -l 1 | \
mpeg2enc -f 8 -q 4 -4 2 -2 1 -o capture005.m2v
drops the average bitrate to 4507800.
Cheers,
Steven Schultz
