        I know of two other programs that can do demuxing:

        mpgtx from http://mpgtx.sourceforge.net

        and 

        vstrip from http://www.maven.de

        Vstrip has windoze tainting so it will take a little work to get
        compiled on a *nix system (nothing hard but it doesn't build "out of
        the box") but it does a very good job.  It's main focus is demuxing
        .vob files from dvds but it works on simpler files as well.

        I've used mpgtx with good results also and it's developed on a linux
        system so it builds more easily than vstrip.
