Now that I've moved to DV capture for video work I've been using a program called motion (motion.sourceforge.net) succesfully for a short while with my Buz. I guess I just don't want to give it up - I've invested so much effort and time into it. I've also very recently moved from SuSE 8.0 to Debian Woody so some fairly major changes in things make systematic troubleshooting difficult.
The reason for this posting: Motion now seg faults. Clearly that is unlikely to be down to the driver but I have had to change so many things that it's hard to pin down. The buz still works with xawtv -c /dev/video0 and with lavrec. I'm posting the driver debugging log in the hope someone can point me in the direction of what is going wrong. This happens with 0.9.1 and 0.9.2 driver Michael. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The debugging output from the buz (driver 0.9.2) is as follows: <6>Buz[0]: zoran_open(motion, pid=[709]), users(-)=3 Buz[0]: VIDIOCGCAP Buz[0]: VIDIOCGCHAN - channel=-1 Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000002 printing eip: e08e2d50 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0000 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[<e08e2d50>] Not tainted EFLAGS: 00010282 eax: e08ea02c ebx: e08e9e40 ecx: 00000000 edx: ffffffff esi: 00000002 edi: d641df04 ebp: d641df00 esp: d641dd7c ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process motion (pid: 709, stackpage=d641d000) Stack: fffffff2 d641df00 0000c030 c0307602 00000011 0805ed78 00000000 0805ed48 ffffffff dbb9c000 d640608c 00000046 d641ddcc c02c33d3 d641def4 ffffffff 0000000a 00000000 00000000 00000000 d641de2c ffffffff d641de04 20007000 Call Trace: [<c01b5fce>] [<c012aec0>] [<c01254d4>] [<c0125501>] [<c0122072>] [<e08a443b>] [<c0130d42>] [<c012fd95>] [<c012fcaa>] [<e08e3a8f>] [<e08e2ad0>] [<c013c887>] [<c0106bd3>] Code: ac aa 84 c0 75 fa c7 45 24 00 00 00 00 c7 45 28 00 00 00 00 My motion.conf (without comments) is: ############################################################ # Capture device options: ############################################################ videodevice /dev/video0 framerate 25 input 1 norm 0 frequency 0 width 240 height 180 auto_brightness no threshold 1000 noise_level 16 gap 10 locate no target_dir /scratch/camera thread0 quality 100 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by:Crypto Challenge is now open!
