Jep that worked for me too :) Thanks. 

And -K kvcd works great in my first test. With -q 6 I got a bitrate of approx. 
1500-1600 and looks very good. (Ok no complicated material, but the result is 
impressive for this bitrate. )

If now someone would tweak tosvcd for use with mplayer (since it can take 
every material) .... just dreaming ;)

Have you played with mplayer as scaler ? What are your results ?
