Yes -- I've just run up against the same thing while making dvd menus. My
packages are: 1.6.1.90-woody0.1. The fix I found was to use:
jpegtopnm spp.jpg | ppmtoy4m -n 1 -F25:1 -I t -L 
in place of:
jpeg2yuv -n 1 -I t -L 1 -f 25 -j spp.jpeg

When I saw he original message, I'd just updated my Linux DVD writing page
to mention the problem (about 5 mins ago).
