Are you sure it compiled and installed successfully?
Do you see something like this (assuming /usr/local - the default -
was used as the $prefix)?

mjpegtools' ./configure script is looking for the quicktime configure
script 'lqt-config'. Is lqt-config in your $PATH?

It installs everything that was built ;)
After doing the installation perhaps it is necessary to run ldconfig
and perhaps type 'rehash' (so that csh/tcsh finds lqt-config).
