Hej folks !

Does MPEG2 (actually: DV format or the internal MPEG2 DVD-compression ) do
compression inbetween the interlaced fields ?

A colleague of mine would like to record a PAL-signal that contains a
stereo view in the top and bottom fields, and would like to avoid losing
quality. He fears that the MPEG2 codec in the hardware above falsely
expects correspondence between the fields and compresses inbetween them.
Is that so ?

Otherwise he will connect an MJPEG card directly; I've recommended him a
Miro DC30 ;)

Servus,
  Gernot
