I've the JVC HRS-9911 ($319) that also lists a TBC as a feature (in addition to DNR [Digital Noise Reduction]). The only PAL ('multisystem' actually) S-VHS deck I've found is the JVC HRS-6970 but it doesn't list TBC or DNR. One thing that a TBC will do that no VCR will do is get rid of the instability caused by embedded/corrupted teletext or copyguard schemes. Some capture cards shutdown or refused to capture when faced with those signals while others (pro gear expects SDI or a TBC controlled analog signal) see the perturbed sync/color info as an unsteady source outside their lock range.
