I guess the signal is valid: both the satellite receiver and the videocamera still work perfectly, I shouldn't say they both got damaged suddenly yesterday. I have no other computer. I have no other video capture card. > >> The kernel seems to be aware of it, as usual, but when I start xawtv I >> get a black screen and the following messages in dmesg: > Most if the time, I would say you have a problem within the input > signal, or the selected input. Maybe a friend of mine have one, but I'm still sure the signal is okay, and the selected input is the right one. > Have you tried unloading the driver and loading every module manually ? I did it right now, here are the results (modprobe and dmesg): # modprobe videocodec Linux video codec intermediate layer: v0.2 # modprobe zr36050 (nothing on dmesg) # modprove zr36016 (nothing on dmesg) # modprobe zr36067 Linux video capture interface: v2.00 Zoran MJPEG board driver version 0.9.5 PCI: Enabling device 0000:01:01.0 (0000 -> 0002) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:01.0[A] -> GSI 22 (level, low) -> IRQ 209 MJPEG[0]: Zoran ZR36067 (rev 2) irq: 209, memory: 0xff0ff000 MJPEG[0]: subsystem vendor=0x1031 id=0xd801 ZORAN: 1 card(s) found DC30plus[0]: zr36057_init() - initializing card[0], zr=f8dc7c60 > >> DC30plus[0]: zoran_open(v4l-conf, pid=[3393]), users(-)=0 >> DC30plus[0]: zoran_close(v4l-conf, pid=[3393]), users(+)=1 >> DC30plus[0]: zoran_open(xawtv, pid=[3392]), users(-)=0 >> DC30plus[0]: UNKNOWN ioctl cmd: 0x80585600 >> DC30plus[0]: zoran_close(xawtv, pid=[3392]), users(+)=1 >> DC30plus[0]: zoran_open(xawtv, pid=[3392]), users(-)=0 >> DC30plus[0]: UNKNOWN ioctl cmd: 0xc0cc5615 > [...] >> DC30plus[0]: VIDIOC_S_FMT - unknown/unsupported format 0x0 ( ) >> (the last message repeated several times...) > I get the last line in combination with: > DC30plus[0]: VIDIOC_S_FMT - type=1, size=384x288, fmt=0x0 ( ) > But only when I use xawtv. I'll take a look at that. A few month ago I had my mobo changed, and the guys at the computer shop installed it in such a way that I found difficult to put a sound card I have into a PCI slot. There are chances the DC30+ was put in without enough care for this reason, and something could have been damaged. Yet, it's strange such damages became evident after such a long time. > >> What's happening? I swear I made no changes in the system, nor in the >> scripts I'm used to use to capture.
