Hey, y'all,
I got my car dyno'd a little while ago. There were two problems... the
first was that the disk was falling apart and the clutch would work
sporadically... I have that one fixed with a 2.0l 16v clutch instead of
the weaker 1.8l 16v. Mr. Potter thought that it would last longer. I
also threw in a lightened flywheel while I was at it. Anyway, the
second problem is that my car has a severe flat spot from 6000 to 6500
rpm. I can really feel it... does anyone out there have a stock engine
that has this? ANyone had this and got rid of it? I need advice on
what to do next. The following suggestions have been made:
1. Hook up the car to an exhaust analyser and set the car up again
using that. It may be incorrectly set?

2. The increased stroke and bigger bore creates an engine that has a
flat spot there... I need to know if everyone elses car feels like
this. I suspect this isn't the case.

3. Get a 50mm intake manifold. My car uses a Scirocco intake (it's CIS
too) so they are hard to find... unless you go to Europe. $$$ I have
one coming but I don't know if this will solve anything at all but I'd
like to have it on my car anyway. I think that I can get more of them
if anyone else needs one.

4. I need the stiff high performance valve springs... I think that this
may be it along with getting a new set of cams. Right now I have two
euros with the distributor drive sawed off of one and degreed by
Techtonics.

5. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Clayton
