My highly modified '78 rabbit 16v (when it was a 1.8l) could max out at 128mph. It has a 88 Scirocco 16v transmission (AYB or AGB or something like that) I don't think that it would go much faster than that unless I had a really long stretch of road without the fear of cops. The peak horsepower at about 6200?? and by the time you are there, or anywhere past there, you are not making enough power to overcome drag. The way my car is geared now, if I remember right, it was at 5500rpm at 130mph in 5th. It was still pulling pretty good, but I had to slow for traffic.
