Hi again,
Remember my post about the microswitches? Well, last night I solved
the mystery. My 90 GLI has two separate, small m/s on TOP of the t/b.
They are roughly 1-inch square and perhaps a 1/4 inch thick. They make a
very disctinct "click" when engaged. The new car (91) was different.
While doing a compression check last night, I tested the switch at the
connector. The 91 car has NO switches on top of the t/b. There is one
big, black box underneath the t/b, I can't say exactly what size it is
but it seems to be a few inches square and maybe one inch thick. It
makes a distinct "click" when the idle contact is engaged, however the
"full throttle" contact is silent! No click! My Fluke VOM told me that
it was working properly so I'm happy now. I just thought I'd pass along
the info in case it might help someone else in the future....
Thanks again!
Dave M.
