After you drop the exhaust you have to remove the heat sheild. It is held
on by round clips about the size of a quarter. There are four bolts that
hold the shifter box on. Once you remove them, you can drop the box.
Remove your shift know so you can pull the shift lever out also. The
shifter ball can be a bitch to remove. A dremel with a cutter works very
well. Also, the cup that the shifter ball fits into can be pressed into
the shifter box pretty tight. You will probably need a hammer to pound it
out. It also helps if you have an extra hand in putting the new shifter
ball on. You have to compress the spring (the one you push on when you
put it in reverse) while at the same time, inserting the metal pin. If
you have a hard time getting the pin in, try using the old one. I think
that the parts inside the shifter box are the most difficult. Everything
else is pretty straight forward. Good Luck! Adios!
