Well, with a 1.8 head, a chip, exhaust, and a euro cam, my '91 GTI 16V would 
do 132mph (I checked it against the tach), and it felt like it might do more 
if I had a taller 5th gear.
.34 isn't that bad for a drag coefficient.
Now, I do have a taller 5th gear, but I won't try to find my new top speed 
anywhere but on a track.
