Anyone know if you can disconnect the EGR valve without any bad side
effects (MPG, etc). I'd like to disconnect & plug the vacuum line. The
valve is making a rattling noise at idle, and the $318 (!!!) for a new one
at the dealer is insane. Anyone BTTD or will I be the guinea pig? It's a CA
car so the Motronic unit has the intake manifold temp sensor. >>

The EGR system is evil. It's the cause of many idling and power-loss
problems. Use an oil drain plug to plug the exhaust manifold. I silicone a
screw with a big head into the hole on the intake manifold(cheesy, but it
works). Plug the two vacuum nipples on the underside of the intake boot.

Alex.
