Is there a way to adjust how the timing belt sits on the related sprockets?
In the past, my belt has always been oriented such that its passenger-side
edge was at the passenger-side edge of the camshaft sprocket. I recently did
a 2.0L ABA shortblock swap (keeping my '86 GLI head), and now the belt rides
closer to the driver's side of the cam sprocket. Not really that big of a
deal, but the driver's side edge of the belt is *just* coming in contact with
the lower belt cover (the metal one), and has rounded it off a little, at
about a 45 deg. angle.

Will things just work themselves out? I'm pretty concerned, as this motor
was not cheap. BTW, I noticed the 2.0L belt was narrower than the 1.8L
version I had previously installed. Also, the 2.0L tensioner pulley won't
work on the 1.8L head, as 1.8L stud diameter is too large.

TIA
