I did the Ate Powerdisk and Mintex (red box I think) upgrade on my GTi. AWE had a sale on brakes and it was too good to pass.
The setup works pretty good- I've not experienced fade (street driving) or any weird cold weather behavior. No squeal but some dust. Since I have teardrops, cleaning isn't much of a hassle. My Audi A4 has Brembo slotted rotors with factory pads. This seems a good combo for the street. Factory pads work great, but too many people bellyache about the dust. If it stops the car... For the track I use the Brembo slots and Mintex Ctech pads for the A4. I still get fade pretty bad and will go thru a set of pads in 2 events. I'm checking the brake upgrades and it looks like I'll get the 993 upgrade since I want to use the 16" wheels. I never thought much about brakes. Now I see cars with these monster wheels and coffee can exhausts acting like fast cars, then you peek at the brakes. They look like washers.
