The BMW "L" cars were Luxury versions - there was an L6 (slushbox only), I'm sure the L7 was similarly equipped. BMW's "M" division never tackled the 7 series in previous years but have done a bit of tuning with the 740i Sport. The did however breathe upon an 850CSi, which was never offically sold. Had it been sold, it had been deemed the M8.
