Do you have a voltmeter ??  If you do, you can test the switch in the
following way :

Remove the black/red wire from the starter solenoid and connect it to the
positive lead on the voltmeter.  Connect the negative lead of the meter to
ground.  Watch the meter as a helper turns the ignition switch into the
start position.  If you get battery voltage at the meter, the ignition
switch is good and the starter solenoid is faulty.  If you get no voltage,
the switch is faulty.....
