Well guys, sorry but I have to defend my beloved Jeep again- not SUV drivers mind you, just MY Jeep. I HAVE rolled it with the top down. I was even wearing a suit and merely crawled out and called Roadside Assistance on my cell phone. I even made it to my customer appointment that day. Aside from the cut brake line (reason for the roll) the car was completely fine.
In terms of stupid soccer moms turning the wheel dramatically at speed to see just how many complete flips they can do is evidence that there should be a "CDL" for SUVs. I hit black ice on the Freeway on Christmas day a couple years ago at 70 mph and just about saved it. Well wait, I didn't flip so I did save it. After I came to rest (still pointed in the right direction) in the center divider ditch in 2 feet of snow, I just put it into 4 wheel drive and drove home. No muss, no fuss. So the miserable morons that do "news TV" shows should have a documentary done on THEM during Prime Time that shows just how full of SHIT 99% of the stories they do are. Maybe then John Q Public (the lemming that he is) will see something real on TV as opposed to the "entertainment" called news they currently take as gospel. Rant complete. Jeep vindicated. Brice now not only a militant biker, but a militant Jeep owner as well <<<Reminds me of a tell-all TV show - 60 seconds, 40 minutes or something like that. They had an episode on the dangers of SUVs that merely proved that 1) the show is produced my idiots and 2) the 99th percentile of SUV drivers should walk. They "proved" that the mass of an SUV is dangerous when hitting a smaller car - this was done by rear-ending an Omni with a Sluburban (I believe this was the ONLY good use for an Omni). The reported noted that the rear damage to the Omni was severe, thus proving that the Sluburban was dangerous. In reality, what it proved is that the "safety cage" in the Omni is damn strong and deformed accordingly and kept the passenger area intact. Another portion addressed the dangers of SUV rollovers. They chronicled a woman who rolled her 4Skinner, turning her best friend into a quadraplegic. The interview of the woman proved her case - she should have been wearing a "stupid" sign. In her words - "I was just driving along and I don't know what happened. The next thing I knew, we were rolling over." Hhmm - if you don't know what happened, it's most likely b/c you don't have a clue - maybe you shouldn't saw the wheel violently @ 70 mph? SUVs and SAVs - the Darwin devices on the new century. --- "David E.
