I saw a car today that reminded of the yellow A4-styled A2 which
caused such a rucuss on the list not too long ago. I was up in San
Juan Capistrano this morning and saw a Porsche that threw me for a
loop: It was a silver mid '80's turbo-looking 911 (wide rear fenders,
whale tail. . .) with a 928 front end. Slant nose conversions are
pretty common, but this had the complete front end of a 928 grafted
on to it! (round exposed pop-up headlights, and the entire front
fascia of what looked like a late-model 928 S4) Seems pretty ironic
since many purists don't consider the 928 a 'real' Porsche
(front-engine, liquid cooled V8). Like the yellow GTI, the bodywork
and paint was impecable, but I don't know if I like the end result.
Have to admit it's unique, though.
