Subject: damn cam swap

damn it. i think i have swapped a few too many cams in my day, and its finally
catching up with me. about 1:30am tonight, i was bolting in my new autotech
cams, and must have overtightened a nut on a stud. at first i thought i just
stripped the stud, but upon closer inspection, i stripped my head. of course,
aluminum is much softer than steel, so there ya go. so, i did my best and
epoxy'ed the stud back in there, and am waiting until morning for it to dry.
what do you guys think? will i be okay? my dad swears by the stuff, he
mentioned something about stripping a rocker arm bolt in his hot rod days (he
was no joke, his car ran low low 13's in the 1/4) and using epoxy to fix it.
never had a problem after.
anyway, its like the number 6 bearing cap stud that is shot, which is the
second one from the left on the intake cam. not much stress there. i was
considering leaving the cap off all together, i am pretty sure the cams would
be fine with 4 out of 5 caps. but, i guess the epoxy is worth a try. i
considered the helicoil, but for one, i dont have a clue where i can find a
helicoil tommorrow (most places are closed, decent ones anyway). and i
considered dropping a thicker bolt in the whole, but with my luck, i will end
up going straight into a water jacker or oil galley.
these damn dubs....

denis g
very tired, and more fun stuff to look forward too tommorrow....
