The concern isn't so much about someone losing one's drivers'
license, it's more a concern of killing an innocent bystander. Most
folks on the roads are clueless - if they get buzzed by someone doing
double the speed limit, they're bound to swerve into on-coming
traffic or the like.

It simply isn't worth my life or some elses to "play with my friends"
- that's why I road race. A few years ago, two guys were "playing"
on the Beltway as I was headed out - they passed me like I was parked
as they weaved in and out of traffic at 90+. The irony came when the
cars touched and the moron in the A3 Jetta lost control and spun
across 4 lanes of traffic and hit the Jersey wall with the LF of the
car. I figured that since I'd watched the entire sequence and I
wanted to be sure this idiot wasn't dead, I stopped. Interestingly
enough, the State Trooper wasn't as stupid as one may think - his
comments after interviewing the A3 pilot were to the effect of "It
sounds like this guy was acting recklessly, what did you see, sir?"
The only downside to that one was I rec'd a summons appear as a
witness in the trial.
