The concern isn't so much about someone losing one's drivers' license, it's more a concern of killing an innocent bystander. Most folks on the roads are clueless - if they get buzzed by someone doing double the speed limit, they're bound to swerve into on-coming traffic or the like.
It simply isn't worth my life or some elses to "play with my friends" - that's why I road race. A few years ago, two guys were "playing" on the Beltway as I was headed out - they passed me like I was parked as they weaved in and out of traffic at 90+. The irony came when the cars touched and the moron in the A3 Jetta lost control and spun across 4 lanes of traffic and hit the Jersey wall with the LF of the car. I figured that since I'd watched the entire sequence and I wanted to be sure this idiot wasn't dead, I stopped. Interestingly enough, the State Trooper wasn't as stupid as one may think - his comments after interviewing the A3 pilot were to the effect of "It sounds like this guy was acting recklessly, what did you see, sir?"
