So, what are gas prices where you live? 'bout $1.90 here in

About the same.
Any thoughts about the recent energy policy changes or the DOT report
showing that average fuel economy is now down to 24.5 mpg?
Americans are resource-consuming pigs. They'd rather bitch that gas
is $1.90 a gallon (about $0.90/gal in 1981 dollars, which means that
gas is cheaper today than it was 20 years ago in constant dollar
terms) than get off their asses and dump their gas-guzzling
SUVs/pickups/minivans. Reap what ye sow and all that.
I flipped thru the summary of the _proposed_ energy policy
<http://www.whitehouse.gov/energy/summaries.pdf> and didn't see
anything jumping off the page at me which indicates that anything
will change soon, except that the oil companies will probably have an
easier time starting to drill (long-term solution) and the power
companies will have an easier time building dams (long-term solution)
or building new power plants (long-term solution). Mumble-jumble
about CAFE, but nothing definitive (which means nothing will happen).
I'll take my 10 lashes for being OT and go back under my rock now.
