A while back I bought an 8k/140mph cluster from Ben here on the list, but
when I hooked it up the tach sucked. Idling at 900rpm, the tach would barely
register, and when blipping the throttle up to about 4k, the needle would
slowly move up to about 2k. Any ideas of what's going on here, it seems like
the needle is being bogged down by something, I can't figure it out. When I
got the package, the cluster was partially disassembled and there was a
screw lodged down in the workings of the tach, I pulled it out and then
adjusted the pin and everything spins freely and just like my other tachs.
This ever happened to anyone else? If anyone has a 8k laying around, could
you measure the resistance across the adjustable pot on the back? Maybe mine
is out of adjustment. Ben said it worked when he pulled it from his car and
shipped it, so it must've gotten screwed up en route. I'd just like the
thing to work. I'm gonna go play around with it for a while, I'll let you
guys know if I find anything.
