Well, 3 tachs and circuit board swaps later, the 8k tach is fixed. It reads
200-300rpm high at idle, but that's no big deal, it may just need adjusted.
The problem was a combination of two tachs with bent needles and loose wires
from the tach circuit board to the tach mechanism. Anyways, it's fixed.
