If the doors are out of alignment you would hear a whole bunch of wind
noise on the freeway, I would assume.  I didn't notice any extra noise
when I drove it, but I wasn't listening for it in particular.  My gti
fills up like a swimming pool when it rains, because if the seals inside
the doors.  If they are missing or not attached correctly they will leak
water into the car.  I used a shower curtain and some rubber cement to do
mine.. I was a little sloppy and it still leaks, perhaps I'll look into a
better glue next time.
