Sounds like coolant sensor is dead and not feeding ECU brain proper
information.

This is a great (only?) site for digifant cars and should help you with your
problem(s).

The temp sending unit should be a small sensor with a single wire blade type
connector on it coming off the head coolant pipe. You can ground this out
while the key is in ON and the guage should move to full deflection. If it
does then the sensor is faulty. If not then the guage or wiring is faulty.
The other sensor on the coolant pipe with the two pin connector is the
coolant sensor for the brain. Digifant operation is totally dependant on
this sensor. Troubleshooting is a simple matter of comparing resistance
readings to a chart based on temperature. At room temp 70deg it should read
around 2.5Kohms. @ operating temp around 194deg lets say, it should be
250ohms. This sensor controls the cold start funtion via the ECU brain in
the digifant system. If this sensor is dead then you will definately have
hard starting problems. The ECU is also suspect but test out everything
else first.
