I had a pair of stainless steel braided brake lines
on my 1st generation Scirocco years back. One of the
fronts popped which of course is quite the experience;
then I had to drive home with only the parking brake.
I've always suspected that the bad line was rubbing on
a strut which wore the outer and the the inner layer
away. I do not think that SS lines are necessary for
street cars (though they do look cool) and many are
not DOT approved. On a full race application where
you are constantly checking everything between and
during events they might be acceptable but really,
what do you think will be gained? Faster lap times- I
doubt it, reliability, you tell me.

My $0.02:
The stainless steel one piece ends on
the autotech lines are nice.
I've
heard of brass ends cracking. Also, if
abrasive material gets inside
the
braid, it may abrade the pressure
tubing. But...no personal experience
with
either fault. So...no free lunch.I
believe Shine Racing Ser. does not
use
for some of these reasons?
