Hi All, I think some of you may not understand. A 2.0l Motronic 'factory proper' engine is great. When you put some cams and a Garrett chip in, it's amazing. Unfortunately, this conversation revolves around a person who is 2.0'ing their CIS-E 1.8l car. Many of you do not understand as you have only driven with Motronic. A 2.0l CIS-E car does not behave like a Motronic car. Yes, it has more torque, yes, it's feels great but unfortunately the injection for some reason or another does not do an adequate job of making the engine go up high... and the shift point changes from redline or beyond to about 5800. That is what I mean by 'dosent rev'. I've researched this. Not only my car but other people as well.
There is a guy on the web who races his rabbit 2.0l 16v and after a lot of work, was forced to put Motronic injection into his car. The CIS-E engine had a drop in power up in the high rev's and did not produce like it should have. Not even a fuel enrichment device is enough to compensate. When he put Motronic in, he gained quite a bit. Here is the link: http://www.netacc.net/~brett/bv-99vs2k.jpg You should easily be able to see that with merely changing to Motronic, Brett gained around 7 hp, and 4 ft/lbs of torque. This may not seem like a lot but they are at the wheels and the biggest difference is that these numbers moved from a peak at around 5500rpm, with a pretty steady drop beyond that to a fantastic beginning of the peak at 5800 continuing to about 6900rpm. Now that's nice!! Anyway, my point is, if you are 'upgrading' to 2.0l, do it with a Motronic management system as well, or just punch out your 1.8l to a 1.9l. My car is no faster on the track and I still have the same top speed on the straighaways. But as Ben said, if you´re not going to do naughty stuff to it, its nonesense. I did´t all the naughty stuff to my 16V engine, complete engine and head rebuild, lightened crank, lightened flywheel, cams set, ported & polished head and intake manifold, balancing, counterweighting, blue printing. I wen´t directly for 2nd oversize, i must STATE its a complete HONDUH KILLER (unsupercharged ones) Revvvvss like a devil.
