Heya all,

I just installed rear brakes on my jetta. I went with stock brembos/pagid
with new reassembled Girling calipers. After I finished installing them, I
adjusted my hand brakes and went for a spin, to realize there was alot of
smoke coming out of the rear brakes. I must have adjusted my handbrakes too
tight. Did that damage anything? Its ok now.

Other question: my rear disks do not get hot, even after intense braking.
I know my rear prop valve is rusted open, but since it's in that position,
I'm just leaving it there. I was able to correctly bleed the rear brakes.
Why aren't they coming hot? The carrier for the pad (with the pins) is new,
and came with the calipers. I didn't adjust the piston of the new calipers
(didn't have the tool), but aren't these calipers auto-adjusting? If not,
any cautions on adjusting them using regular vise grips (with the Master
Cylinder reservoir open)?

Confused,

Francois
