Depends on the tire... Bridgestone RE730's have a rim protector that does
stick out past the lip slightly.  it's really close, but it works.
205/50's look pretty decent on a 6.5" wheel, and provide a little more
protection.

8000's are good, i've heard the same about the kumhos, and the RE730's
seem to be pretty bitchin too.
