I think that had it not been raining at the time, I would be toast. I ended
up knocking the car out of gear as my fat ass hit the gear lever on its way
into the passenger seat. I would highly reccomend replacing the POS door
seatbelts in any car so equipped, and making sure you have lap belts.

My friend Daren totalled his '91 GTI on friday.  He broadsided a Porsche
Boxter that ran a stop sign.  He was travelling at about 50mph, and he
walked away from the accident with bumps and bruises.  And I agree that the
hood took alot of the impact...

Guys, please wear your seatbelt, and make sure your passengers do, too.  And
if you have those stupid passive restraints(belts attached to the door),
switch them out ASAP.  Daren and I are both convinced that's what saved him
from further injuries.
