I have used a pair of vice grips before. Just clamp it on really tight and let it spin around and bind on something.

I'm trying to get the crankshaft end bolt out. Even with the belts on(and ofcourse off), the damn pulley turns. And as you know the pulley turns the bolt wont come out. The reason im taking it off is to get the timing chain cover off inorder to access all the waterpump bolts. Any suggestions how to stop the pulley from turning? I tried engaging the trans but still too much play to crack it loose.
