Check a few things before you buy a new one. Could save you a few bucks.

I have this same problem on my Corrado. Use an multimeter to ensure that you
are getting 12V from the power wire that feeds the amplifier. If not then
check your wiring from the headunit to the Fuba. Next, check that the base
of the Fuba amplifier is properly grounded to the roof. The screw at the
base has serrations that will contact the inside of the roof effectively
grounding the antenna amplifier. You may have to roughen the surface with
sandpaper for the screw to get a nice contact. Lastly, make sure the outside
case of your stereo reciever is grounded to the same ground.

If the above fails, then the amplifier inside the base is bad and you should
replace with a new one.

Subject: [a2-16v-list] No AM stations

I have a 1991 GLI and I cannot pick up any AM stations. I checked the
antenna connection in the back of the stereo and even switched the stereo
with another one but still the same problem. I have the stock Fuba antenna
and was wondering if you think replacing the antenna will help? Any ideas
welcome.

Thanks,

Eric
