I refuse to endore the Shine rear bar beacuse I do not agree with it's design principal. It's also a whore to install, and Shine's "tech support"(if you can call it that) is non-existant. The last one I installed was on an A3, and the directions say "THE REAR SWAYBAR MUST BE INSTALLED EXACTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE REAR AXLE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT" Well, guess what? It doesn't fit. The brake proportioning valve blocks it. A quick phonecall to Shine gets this response: "Oh, just get it close, it'll be fine."
Yeah, great. (Where's that rolleyes icon when I need it?) And their theory about running a rear bar without a front bar may work well in a purpose-built car on a track, but for the street, it's nonsense. Correcting snap oversteer mid-turn in a FWD car is no fun when you don't have a runout area. To their credit, however, Shine makes the best springs for almost all purposes. The "Real Street" springs coupled with Bilsteins make our cars handle the way they should have from the factory. -Dave '91 Jetta GTX 16V '88 Jetta GLI 16V '81 Scirocco S (16V Coming soon...)
