Hey fellas,

It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've been lurking, but been so
busy I haven't been able to add much.

Any whoo , I'm looking for a new exhaust cam to play with. Up until a week ago
I had the Schrick 268/276 combo. It was a great all around cam combo; decent
low end, great mid range, but just OK up top. Above 6,800 it felt like it was
losing steam.

I managed to track down a 276 intake cam and drop it in. It helped a
tremendous amount up top while sacrificing only a little low end over the 268.
The car pulls to 8,200 (where I have the rev-limiter set) pretty well now, but
all this has me wondering.

I've read what Kris Valdez has written about port efficiency of the VW 16V
motor. While the intake tract is a straight shot, the exhaust must make nearly
a 90 degree bent to exit the motor. Kris' theory, which has been dyno tested,
is that to get the most power out of this motor, you must run a more aggressive
cam on the exhaust side to make up for the lack of efficiency relative to the
intake side.

My question is: Is there a cam that has more duration than 276, but less than
296?  Schrick seems to top out at 276, and Kent makes a huge leap to 296;
leaving nothing in the middle. Ideally, I'd like to play around with a cam
somewhere in the high 280's. Anyone know where I could track this down?

Cheers,
Pat
