Yes, it was odd that the O2 sensor was my problem. But, I can not deny
2
facts. One, I had very similar symptoms to Alex, if not identical. Two,
when I replaced the exhaust and put in a new O2, I have not had any problems
since.

Some of you might remember the incredible frustration I went thru
trying to
diagnose the problem. I posted many a post to the list and just about
everyone was stumped. I don't remember exactly how I got the idea to unplug
the DPR when the car started acting up. But it worked. From there, I took
it to leaving the DPR plugged in and just unplugging the signal lead coming
from the O2 sensor. That solved my problem. The car would run fine, or as
best can be expected w/ no O2.

Alex, you might try doing that...unplugging the signal lead from the O2
sensor, and leaving the DPR plugged in, and see if that solves/helps your
problems.

My problem occurred when the engine was cold. The car would start and
run
fine for approximately 30 sec. to a minute. During this time, the O2 sensor
was A) either not sending a signal to the DPR or B) was sending a cold start
signal and was operating fine. What would happen after about a minute of
running is the car would just die. Completely shut itself off. It was
damned near impossible to get it to restart w/o letting it sit for hours and
coming back to it. My OPINION on what was happening was that the O2 sensor
was continuously sending a cold start signal to the DPR, which was
increasing the amount of fuel in the system, even after it should have
stopped sending that signal. Essentially, the car was flooding itself. Odd
yes, but logical, I think. Something in the O2 was messed up and sending a
faulty signal to the DPR.

What I did to test if the O2 was indeed the culprit, was to unplug the
O2
signal wire before starting the car w/a cold engine. When the car made it
past that magical 30 sec to a minute mark w/out dieing on me, I knew the O2
sensor was to blame.

Just passing along my experience learned from many hours of frustration
and
cursing to a situation that seems similar. Take it for what you will.

Seriously, I read Renard's reply about the O2 sensor being the problem, and
I find that odd.
