I have 164K on my 2.0l 16v. As far as I know engine has never been
cracked
and original tranny.
It's hard to find any car from the early 90s with under 100K these days.
Time just isn't on our side anymore, fellas.

I am one of those high mileage champs. All of my cars have gone past the
150k mark. My 85 Golf surpassed the 285k milestone when I finally decided to
sideline it and do an engine transplant. The thing was still running when I
took it apart.
I hope to have this operational by next summer with a newly refreshed 2.0l
16V. Then I can put in another 250k miles! If I get there, then this chassis
will be the 1/2 million mile Golf!
