Funny you asked, I tried to sell my 1.8 16v bracket months ago when I found that my 2.0l bracket was ok. Now that one of the mounting bolts broke guess it is time to get the 1.8 piece out of storage :) I picked one up off vwvortex for about $30 shipped last year in case you want to search on there.
Not sure about your question of a direct swap. I haven't started on the broken bolt removal and bracket install.
