I have an 88 GTI 16V (CIS-E) that isn't getting fuel to the injectors. It was
running before I changed the fuel filter and air filter. Both pumps appear to
be fine as all the fuel delivery tests up to the feed line at the air box are
within spec. However if you pull an injector and do the crank test with the
sensor plate lifted, there is no fuel at the injectors. Also bone cold the car
ran once off only the fuel from the cold start injector with no power and it
died as soon as it got warm. I have no way to test pressures, but I am starting
to suspect either the vacuum control pressure regulator or the dpr. I am
thinking that changing the fuel filter might have knocked some crap loose in
the fuel line that is now clogging a screen somewhere. Are there filter screens
in the fuel distributor or the control pressure regulator that can get clogged?
Does the diaphram in the control pressure regulator ever fail (we could see
fuel returning to the tank when there was air in the system after the filter
was changed)?

Thanks in advance
Brian
