I'd guess you need either an oil change or a lighter oil altogether to rid yourself of that funny noise. My 85 would do the same thing on super cold winter days if I hadn't let it warm up enough, and that was with Esso 0W30. Seriously, next time try a modern 5W30 and you'll remember how a 16V pulls at higher rev's. In general, high viscosity oil is for engines that make power at lower rev's (or worn out high revving engines but we won't discuss those).
