The thin stuff (1-3mm) lifted off with a chisel (my version of a putty knife) while the thicker stuff (4-8mm) took some gentle persuasion with the chisel and hammer. All told, it took one complete can (16 oz?) and 5 hours to strip, wire brush and paint the front fender wells. If I could figure out how to download photos to the web, I'd post the "after" pictures.
The only side effects are some minor brain damage and some other things that I
can't remember...
