Haha.. I have a friend that also has an R32 and won't drive one with a turbo for the same reason. He is afraid he would no longer be satisfied with his car and doesn't want to turbo it.
You should try my car, it is fun. Here is what I have done to it performance wise so far- DLI engine mounts VF engineering dogbone mount Vflow intake Schrick 272/272 cams Steve Hannaford ported cyl head Supersprint headers Supersprint testpipe w/ twin 2.25 cats welded in Jetex 2.75 catback C2 tune done by Jeff Atwood on the dyno for the cams crank scraper Blue Haldex controller (engages the AWD quicker) Peloquin rear TBD (most people call them a limited slip diff, same as a Quaife) Hotchkiss front & rear hollow swaybars Koni FSD shocks/struts VWMS strut bearings TST rear chassis brace brass bushings in shift cables aluminum bushings in shift cable bracket upgraded bushings in front control arms x50 radar detector front and rear laser jammers ;) Last time on the dyno the car put down 264awhp/247awtq uncorrected (true hp that day), 250/234SAE on 93 octane. Using the .:R's 20% drivetrain loss 264/247 to the wheels is 330hp/309tq at the crank (that day, which was in January, nice and cold). (stock .:R is 250 crank, 200 at the wheels on a dynojet = 20% loss) The car has ran 13.1 at the strip numerous times. I've seen up to 154mph on the GPS. It truly is do it all 'sports' car. -----Original Message----- From: "Les Noriel" [[email protected]] Date: 07/12/2010 01:14 PM To: "Josh" <[email protected]>, [email protected] Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] a2-16v list back online Josh, My brother picked up an R32 and is enjoying the hell out of it. He had the same impressions as you of the car and has offered me the keys on numerous ocassions. I've declined for fear I might get the urge to get one myself (Which is exactly what happened way back in 1984 when he offered me the keys to his then Scirocco) He still hangs on to a small collection of Corrados & Mk1s (G60, SLC, Pickup & Jetta Coupe) I sold my own Jetta and VW Pickup a few years back after the neighbors complained of the expanding driveway at my house. Now I have a more "civilized" appearance with a single SUV but I've got the last two remaining VWs still hidden away in the garage. -Les -----Original Message----- >From: Josh <[email protected]> >Sent: Jul 10, 2010 9:50 PM >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [a2-16v-list] a2-16v list back online > > >Glad to see there are people out there still enjoying the 16v (and mk2). > >I sold my last one back in '06 when I picked up my R32.
