Ran across a thread on the Vortex forums where they were discussing the values 
of MK2s.  Among the discussion was a note that the most valuable MK2s were the 
16V MK2s.

Apparently MK1s are in the 10K-30K range right now for mint condition cars and 
the MK2s have bottomed out in price around $3K and are now rising.

A mint 92 MK2 16V seems to now be going for $8K+ and these prices seem to be 
rising.   This one sold three years ago for $6,500:

Maybe these rising prices will encourage more people to put money into 
restoring/preserving these cars.   And also encourage VW to make more 
replacement bits that have gone NLA.
