Bioinformatics research position in the Integrated Support Systems for Omics Sciences unit at ICAR-CNR

High Performance Computing and Networking Institute at National Research Council of Italy (ICAR-CNR) is a fast moving research institute that focuses on biomedical and bioinformatics supercomputing applications. Based within the CNR Research Area of Naples, it provides a dynamic and highly motivated research environment strongly connected with italian and foreign institutions.

Description

A 1+1 years research position is available starting from October 2012 in the group of Dr. Mario Guarracino. The newly established team investigates high performance machine learning and data mining techniques for the analysis of integrated omits data. The aim is to gain more insight in the mechanisms regulating processes and functions within cells, through the development of novel algorithms for the analysis of incomplete and noisy data.

We are seeking for highly motivated candidates that are willing to work in a multidisciplinary group and be involved in the analysis of high throughput biological data.

Qualifications

We welcome candidates holding a Master degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, statistics and related fields, who wish to join a dynamic team. The candidates are supposed to have excellent skills in programming (Java/Sql), algorithms prototyping (Matlab/R) and communication, and at least a sufficient understanding of biology.

Please apply by sending a letter describing your interests and past experiences, together with a curriculum vitae to [email protected]

A presto,
Vito
